But computerized embroidery usually involves more colorful patterns and more complex designs. Computerized embroidery applying the tone-on-tone technique is not so common within the world of digitizing.

Tone-on-tone embroidery is the a kind of embroidery involving an embroidery design that is of the same color as that of the fabric that it will be sewn on. A classic example is a white stitching on a white fabric, like embroidering white snowflakes on the curtains or bed sheets. It is an art that can be considered simple yet rich and sophisticated. It is only a basic application but it gives off a rather simple and serene feel about the the work.

Thought it is not s popular as the other kinds of embroidery used in embroidery digitizing, tone-on-tone embroidery is still a fashionable trend in the industry. This style has remained popular among clients who are fond of understated classy designs. There is the small case that the embroidery design used in tone-on-tone will not be so visible since the design would just naturally disappear against the background. But this does not mean that is is entirely invisible. It still is, appearing to liven up a once dull sheet of fabric.

Some corporations also adopt this technique in making their logos and printing them into the company shirts. This technique really gives an elegant feel to the clothes without the distraction of different colors.

While embroidery digitizing can also accomplish tone-on-tone embroidery designs, there is competition with tone-on-tone monogramming. But this is more prevalent with designing high-end designer shirts. For small jobs or small-scale projects that involves the tone-on-tone technique, computerized digitizing can surely help.

One main disadvantage in using tone-on-tone designs for your fabrics is that it could clash with the other designs the fabrics have. Your tablecloth, for example, may have tone-on-tone designs on it but there are also other colorful works embroidered on it. These designs may be too bright or too dark for the tone-on-tone design to be visible to our eyes. It would be like it would have been better not to add additional designs at all. When using tone-on-tone embroidery, you have to keep the other designs simple and complementary with each other. Don’t forget that embroidery digitizing was made to enliven every embroidery work, even simple things like tone-on-tone designs.

The princess cut is the most important new cut or shape for diamonds since the invention or perfection of the modern brilliant cut over 60 years ago. The princess cut diamond is effectively a square version of the round brilliant cut, and is known technically as a square modified brilliant cut.

The princess cut was originally created by Israel Itzkowitz in 1979 at Ambar Diamonds in Los Angeles. After three years of optical research the princess cut was developed. It was a square diamond from the girdle up that had faceting similar to that of a round brilliant cut diamond from the girdle down. This accounts for the fire and brilliance seen in princess cut diamonds.

Princess cut diamonds are the most popular non-round diamond. They have a beautiful brilliance and a modern square shape that accentuates a diamond’s fire rather than its luster. Princess cut diamonds have become a favourite diamond choice for engagement rings.

The princess cut diamond is usually less expensive than a round brilliant cut diamond of the same carat weight because a diamond cutter usually does not need to shave off as much diamond weight from the rough diamond. This ability to retain more crystal weight makes this shape popular amongst diamond cutters and therefore less expensive than round brilliant cut diamonds.

The princess cut diamond is normally close to a square with a + or – 10% deviation, but it may come in more elongated versions. Try to avoid extremely thin girdles which are prone to chipping when being set. For a princess cut diamond that is square, a length to width ratio between 1:0 – 1:10 is best, if you prefer a more rectangular shape then a length to width ratio above 1:11 is best.

A Princess Cut Diamond generally has 76 facets, giving it more brilliance and fire than the round brilliant. Princess cut diamonds are the most popular non-round diamond. They have a beautiful brilliance and a modern square shape that accentuates a diamond’s fire rather than its luster.
